Funding Information

Federal funding by the main granting agencies – CIHR, NSERC, CFI, and Genome Canada – represents the largest source of public research financing in Canada. Additionally, the provinces support a number of research initiatives through a variety of granting agencies, often in collaboration with federal funds. Private or philanthropic organizations also provide a large source of research financing in Canada, usually in conjunction with research in an area relevant to the organization.  These funding sources provide a range of support, from financing research and infrastructure to providing fellowships and scholarships to post-docs and students.

Increasingly, researchers are asked to ensure additional support for grants, usually through collaboration with an industrial partner.
